Dental Insurance Overview

1:10 pm Dental Insurance

Anyone who has had Medicare for more than a few months knows that it does not cover any dental work, which means that your Medicare Supplement does not cover any dental work. There are two options availablel to you.

  1. Pay for all of your dental work at the time of service out of your own pocket
  2. Get a stand alone senior Dental Insurance plan

Most people in the past have chosen option one. However, there are a growing number of Medicare card holders who are giving their choppers much more love and care. If you are interested in Dental Insurance, here are some general numbers for you.

It costs approximately $40/month for a senior dental plan that covers up to $2,000 per year. If you do the math, you will see that if you only visit the dentist twice a year for your bi-annual cleaning, checkup, x-rays, and flouride treatment, you will almost break even by getting one of these dental plans. When you require any additional work extractions, crowns, root canals, bridges, then the dental plans really start saving you money.

There is generally a six month waiting period for extractions and periodontal work, and a twelve month waiting period for major work like bridges and root canals, so don’t wait until you know you need the work, to get your dental plan. Click Here for more information.
