Cancer Plans
January 5, 2008 1:10 pm Cancer InsuranceThere are two basic types of Cancer Plans available in the market today. The first generally pays you a fixed amount of money if and when you are diagnosed with cancer. The second pays you according to certain activies such as hospital stays, travel expenses, etc.
The key difference between cancer plans and health insurance or medicare, is that the insurance company pays the money to you to be used any way you wish. It is also paid “in addition to” any other health insurance you may have.
Many people have found that cancer treatment and recovery includes many non-medical expenses such as travel, hotels, lost wages, new clothes, etc. Medicare, Medicare Supplements and other health insurance will generally cover most of the medical related expenses, but none of the non-medical expenses.
As as example, let’s say that you were diagnosed with some type of internal cancer. You would want to see and be treated by the best doctors at the best facility for your particular diagnosis. Those doctors and that facility may be in Texas, Chicago or New York. If you and a loved one traveled to another state for treatment, you may also have to stay there for several weeks, which would require a hotel, car, food, etc. These are all expenses that are not covered by most health insurance policies. These are precisely the the types of expenses that Cancer Plans are designed to cover.
Additionally, most cancer plans are affordable and easy to get. Many family plans are less than $100/month and you will generally get accepted unless you have been diagnosed or treated for cancer within the last 10 years. Click Here for more information.
